We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay at this hotel. The bedroom was comfortable and cleaned daily. There was a separate bathroom and toilet. Great powerful hairdryer and nice shower including lovely smelling shower gel. Coffee and tea making facilities, although very mean with the milk and for some reason didn’t replenish breakfast tea so I had to ask for this. Breakfast was a bit surreal. On our first day we came down at 9:00 am, there were no plates, breakfast teabags, no milk, no croissants (which we had to ask for), we were not made aware that we could ask for eggs and bacon, and I only realised this was an option after reading the reviews on here. Service was very discreet and was literally do it yourself, which is fine but I think service could be improved in this area. All the items missing were replaced on asking, when I eventually found someone to ask. Nice lounge area and general decor overall good. Lots of parking. Not particularly disabled friendly, no lift to our room and my husband was using crutches so not ideal. I’d suggest the hotel might need to consider accessibility options. Albert has some decent restaurants and it is excellently located for visiting the Somme.

Reception friendly and helpful (Isabelle). Convenient as it has free secure parking but it is a bit of a walk into Albert - 15 minutes and not the most scenic. The room was a decent size. The breakfast was a let down. Limited choice and uninspiring. It’s a shame as it has the foundations to be a great place.

Ideally situated for visiting the Somme area. The newly renovated hotel is clean, comfortable and well appointed. We had everything that we required in our air conditioned room. The breakfast was good, with a wide selection of cereal, fruit and pastries. Bacon and eggs are available on request. The large parking area is easy to access. There was no dinner service while we stayed.

We stayed here for 2 nights in Feb 24 to allow us to visit the Somme Battlefields. Location - very easy to get to with a huge free car park. Easy to find when coming from out of town. We walked into Albert each night which was a 15 min stroll. The staff were lovley - the lady we met on arrival (A lady originally from Bristol so had perfect English!) was as welcoming as could be and this was the same for everyone we encountered, polite, helpfull and efficient. Bedroom well decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast nice selection, the eating area and restauraunt were all super. All in all we loved this hotel, although we spent most of out time out driving around or in the town this was a really nice hotel to come back to. Highly reccomend this and would like to hope we will be back.

We stayed at the Royal Picardie for a week to explore the Somme battlefields. The hotel was excellent - reasonably priced with nice and clean rooms. It wasn’t very full so all the staff had lots of time for us. Breakfast was decent - a limited range but all of it very good with eggs and bacon cooked to order. Superb pastries. We are once on the restaurant at night. The food was excellent but there was no atmosphere as we were more or less the only people there. The hotel is perfect for the Somme and about a kilometre outside Albert. Albert itself has plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars.

Long-standing booking. Arrived to find that the restaurant was closed for a private function. No alternative except for processed meat and cheeseboard in the bar - which then became overwhelmed by the revellers from the private function. Door to room opened into a cupboard with another door to bedroom (heavy and difficult to open), one door to shower, and a third door to an even smaller and unventilated cupboard with the toilet. Came downstairs in the morning with no sign of a breakfast room. Staff didn't offer any information.

The service was superb, the staff looked after us really well. Hotel was clean and friendly. Totally recommend it. We were a group of six and all enjoyed it. Extensive car park, close to town with easy access to anywhere. They catered for Gluten Free as well.

We have been waiting for the restaurant to open for a wile as we had heard about the chef, so we were delighted to be able to eat lunch here whilst organising a buffets for clients later in the year. I have to say he has lived up to expectations - from the smoked salmon starter, the perfectly cooked angus steak to the rich but light dessert - I could not fault the meal or the service. It was particularly impressive due to the fact that the restaurant is not yet open to non residents so everything was ‘off the cuff’.

This Hotel was ideally located for our group. We, a group of seven, had three days exploring the First World War memorials. The staff at the hotel were pleasant and polite and gave us a warm welcome and looked after us with great care and style without being over fussy. Large bar and lounge where we enjoyed three evenings watching world cup rugby. The breakfasts were excellent and offered a variety continental style. This hotel has just been refurbished and under new management. They have plans to open their own restaurant for dinners. We walked into town on the three nights we stayed and there was an excellent choice. Reception at the Hotel kindly booked us in to the local restaurants. Isabelle was particularly attentive and helpful throughout our stay. At the end we did not wish to leave. Sean and his History Group.
