Deze Parador is uniek gelegen op een heuveltop in de omarming van de rivier beneden. We verbleven in kamer 102 op 2e etage in de toren. Dit is de enige kamer als je de lift uitkomt. Klein maar gerieflijk in antieke stijl. Uitstekend geslapen. Restaurant is goed. Het enige minpunt is de lounge met exact één bank en verder tafeltjes met stoelen, hetgeen niet echt uitnodigt tot een langere rustpauze. Voor het hotel voldoende en gratis parkeerruimte. Het hotel heeft een trolley om je koffers en andere spullen te vervoeren. Het stadje is niet groot, wel voldoende voor een aardige wandeling. De kers op de taart is de sleutel die je bij de receptie kan halen om op de torentransen te komen. Werkelijk het beste uitzicht dat je krijgen kan.

What an amazing place. A stunning castle in a wonderful little village. Staff were friendly and room was comfortable. The dinner was very good but breakfast is a little limited. However the place is such a historical gem with much to see on foot around it outweighs and shortcomings.

A treasured place to escape the hussle and bussle of life and work at a small castle or fortress with great atmosphere and tranquility. With only 14 rooms (the best one at the top of the tower) you feel like a special weekend guest at a important families ancient home.

We had a great stay, it’s a fabulous place to arrive at, an imposing 8thC castle perched majestically atop the pretty hillside village of Alarcon. The renovation/reconstruction to hotel has been sensitively done, preserving historical features where possible but bringing mod cons to the rooms. Ours had fine views across the countryside, a comfortable, sizeable bed, generous supply of toiletries, great WiFi & a large Comcast TV. Breakfast was excellent, all table served. Dinner was more of a mixed bag - my shoulder of lamb rustic & flavoursome but other dishes less satisfactory. Service was very good & the restaurant itself upscale. There are various hiking trails around about & the little town itself is worth a wander. You’ll have covered it within an hour or two, or you could linger & eat in one of the handful of restaurants or walk the ramparts.

This castle, situated in a walled city, surrounded by a deep gorge, in the middle of a very rural Spain, was spectacular. This was the 10th parador my wife and I have stayed in, and it was the best. We loved everything about the stay. Parking was not a problem. My knees don't allow me to hike anymore, but the area appeared to be a hiker's delight. We really enjoyed the restaurant and the menu selection. Great staff.

This property is amazing and staying in a historic castle will not be forgotten anytime soon. The view from the ramparts was especially good. We only wish there would have been more time to completely explore Alarcón. Parking is nearby and free. The breakfast was good and they had gluten free options for my wife.

Stunning castle location in a small village with 4 churches. This is a small parador with just 14 rooms all set within the castle. The room was good with comfy beds and pillows. There isn't a pool here, but we walked around the village a number of times to explore. The food at the hotel was excellent. We both had steak for dinner, and the breakfast was a surprise as it was not the normal buffet we had at other paradors. When visiting, be sure to locate the artisan bar in the village, which has stunning gardens to sit in. Great prices there as well, beer and wine €5.20.

Staying at Parador de Alarcon was better than our greatest hopes! Impressive history paired with modern comfort and exceptional service, Parador de Alarcon was outstanding. The village of Alarcon was similarly charming, beautiful, peaceful and offered additional dining options as well as historical buildings. We also enjoyed a lovely hiking trail around the property that took us to the edge of the surrounding river, which serves as a natural moat for the fortress. Highly recommend!
