Isla Brown Chania Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton

Beautiful hotel and food but far from town so you need a car or to pay for taxis.

Verblijf van 8 dagen, we vonden het eten goed, hoewel onder wat wordt verwacht van een 5-sterren (lokale normen) Pas op voor diensten die niet beschikbaar zijn: gesloten binnenzwembad, fitnessruimte, derde zwembad, themarestaurants, sauna, hamam, dit alles is gesloten . De grote minpunten: - De receptiemedewerkers glimlachen niet, spreken niet, geven ons alleen telefoonnummers... we hebben echt het gevoel dat we in de weg zitten. Toch zijn we lachende mensen. - Eindelijk de badkamer, pas op dat het onhygiënisch is, probleem met schimmel, muggen, rioolluchtjes, knutselen met tape, etc. We praten niet meer over het aantal sterren, want daar is het in geen enkel hotel ondraaglijk, zie je op de foto's. - Slapen, de matrassen zijn al jaren dood denk ik, we hebben op veel plaatsen pijn door de veren die op de huid drukken (echt proberen te begrijpen), dan slaap je heel slecht. Om u een voorbeeld te geven van het onderhoud dat aan het bed kan worden gedaan, ziet u de foto's van de boxsprings... Verder is het meubilair van het hotel prachtig, de omgeving kijkt ook uit op de zee. de service is slecht, we zagen slechts een paar lachende medewerkers (niet bij de receptie) geen excursie georganiseerd door het hotel, je krijgt een telefoonnummer op een post-it... De bus passeert 4 keer per dag voor de deur hotel, anders zit je vast als je geen auto huurt. Oordeel: ga ergens anders heen.

Hotel buildings is not prepared for bad weather. First day of lightening, thunder and torrential rain, water came through bedroom door. Rang to get towels to stem the flow. Visit to reception and another phone call, two hours or so later, still nothing. Went to reception again. Was told no other rooms available. Managed to get some towels then, told someone will come to clean up/see to problem. Was told several times – no action. Next morning, went to reception, showed young receptionist pictures. By now there was thick mud outside the door, dirtying our footwear, feet, legs and clothes (from splash back). Slippery. She apologised and said she will send someone. This was the only apology we received the multiple times we spoke to other hotel staff in person/telephone calls. After breakfast, we could see some attempt had been made to clear the mud. A groundsman arrived and said he doesn’t what to do. He had a conversation with a couple of hotel staff who was working on a nearby room to sort something out. Some boarding was subsequently placed over the now muddy pool of water. Weather affected the hotel lobby (towels placed around floor areas), outside bar was slippery. When we arrived, we were told we were upgraded from garden room to sea view. However, the main view is a building. Felt downgraded. We made the mistake of not asking questions before accepting the 'upgraded' room.

We had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday at Isla Brown Chania! The staff is warm and welcoming, the environment and views are stunning. I got some spa trea**ents and they were some of the best I’ve ever had. Book your vacation for next season, don’t hesitate. Yes, if you want to see Crete, you’ll need a car- but we loved driving and there are many wonderful places to stop and visit if you have the flexibility of a car. And we enjoyed not being in the busy town on many days. We couldn’t have been happier with our entire stay and will never forget this trip. Thank you Isla Brown!!

Every single person of the staff were just incredibly helpful, kind, and caring. We had no problems during our 7 day visit. Already decided that we will be back at this lovely resort one day!

We used this hotel as a stop over for a pending flight. The room and pool were excellent though there was only a buffet for an evening meal. Would recommend

Very nice hotel with comfy rooms and delicious breakfast. Pool area also nice. However, the hotel is located on the countryside with the pros and cons from such location. It is far away from party, busy traffic and noise. On the orker hand, it takes 40 minutes with bus to Chania. Unless you want to spend +25€ each way in taxi (which brings you there in 25 minutes each way). Limited dining options nearby, but we dined at Mitsos BBQ one evening, and would recommend that. All in all, a very nice hotel, but if you want to dine and take a stroll in Chania, you might consider a hotel closer to the city.

Hotel opened this year, the hotel is nice and beautiful but the staff has no training, the maintenance is really bad, pool area looks already old and outdated, garden not taken care of. Good potential but not managed. The hotel is not clean. The staff is not trained and doesn’t solve problems well.
