Hot Springs hotels in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan

It’s a very charming place with a real wabi-sabi atmosphere - simple, quiet, and full of nostalgic beauty. Quite old-fashioned, but well maintained. This spot became popular on a Russian platform, so there are many tourists from Russia ( me as well) . When I visited the onsen, there were seven people in total - all Russian girls. Overall, it doesn’t stop you from having a great rest. However, it’s not really suitable for a honeymoon, as my husband and I were separated the whole time — there are no mixed onsens for men and women, probably because the place is now mostly visited by foreigners. When we checked out, they kindly drove us back to the station. I left with a complete sense of relaxation. Thank you!

Stayed 2 nights at this lovely place. Hotel was very near the train station and within walking distance to many restaurants and cafes. The staff at this hotel were warm and I felt really taken care of. We were able to understand each other with simple English and Japanese. My room was spacious and had a great view of the sea and sunrise! The onsen in the room was big and I had a good time soaking in it. On my check out day, the staff gave me a back of kiwis that were farmed by the owner of the hotel. Would love to come back here again when I have chance!

Het hotel biedt indrukwekkende, traditionele en verfijnde Japanse service. De ruime en comfortabele traditionele Japanse kamers zijn van alle gemakken voorzien, met privé-onsen en luxe massagestoelen. Het restaurant serveert semi-kaiseki gerechten; hoewel er geen roomservice is, is het er zeer comfortabel en worden er ontbijt en diner met elegante en verfijnde smaken geserveerd. Het hotel is iets minder gunstig gelegen en moet met de bus worden bereikt, maar verder is het een geweldige plek om te ontspannen en nieuwe energie op te doen. In het stadje waar het hotel zich bevindt, zijn ook een aantal uitstekende dessertwinkels en restaurants te vinden.

Er zijn insecten in de kamer, misschien omdat er in de omgeving in de buurt meer kruiden en slangen zijn, de locatie is verre, er is niets op de avond, maar de personeelsleden zijn goed educatief.

De parkeergarage aan de heuvelzijde heeft een lift die je naar de 4e verdieping brengt, waarna je zo naar binnen loopt. Het hotel is erg populair. De schoonmaak en service zijn niet zo goed als in vergelijkbare hotels. Voor het ontbijt en diner moet je in de rij staan voor een plekje, en de kwaliteit van het eten is gemiddeld. In de winter sluit de outlet mall om 19:00 uur, dus laatkomers hebben beperkte eetgelegenheden. Eigenlijk zou een hotel bij het Gotemba station, als je komt om te shoppen, waarschijnlijk een betere prijs-kwaliteitverhouding bieden.

The resort is truly remarkable with good food and onsen facilities. My rating is purely based on the resort experience. However, I will like to provide feedback on the reservation experience on trip.com. The pricing indicated on trip.com is not totally transparent. At the time of booking, I indicated 2 adults and a 7yo child to get accurate pricing. The amount was prepaid with a small fee JPY450 to be paid at hotel. At check in, I was shocked to learn that we are expected to pay for the child room rate at JPY22k+. That was not indicated on the “to pay at hotel’. Trip.com customer service officer replied that the requirement was indicated on the email confirmation sent. This is upsetting as I usually used the mobile app and relied on available information to make reservation. It is not my habit to check email confirmation given the information on the app is correct. Pricing should be made transparent at point of booking and not after booking. And out of ‘goodwill’ they offered me a compensation close to 50% of the child room rate. I have been using trip.com since covid and this is my first time having such issue. I hope my experience can benefit others who is booking this accommodation with child.

Er wordt gezegd dat de grote schrijver Yukio Mishima hier ooit verbleef. Tijdens deze reis kwam ik alleen naar Izu en koos voor het Shimoda Tokyu Hotel. Ik was zeer tevreden. De taxirit van het station naar het hotel kost ongeveer 60 yuan, en je kunt er ook komen door een ham te gooien, maar er zijn nogal wat bergopwaartse wegen, dus het wordt niet aanbevolen voor vrienden met bagage om te lopen. De oom die mij begroette had wit haar en kon in het Chinees 'dankjewel' zeggen. Toen hij hoorde dat ik naar de supermarkt ging, vond hij zelfs een papieren kaart waarop ik met een rode pen de route kon plannen zo comfortabel om 's nachts naar de warmwaterbron te gaan. Er is ook een wasruimte die gebruikt kan worden, en de grootte van de kamer is ook erg indrukwekkend. Bij het vertrek koos ik er bewust voor om naar het station te lopen. Ik trok mijn koffer en hield een paraplu vast in de regen. Na de navigatie kwam ik eigenlijk in een bos terecht zonder een dorp voor me of een winkel achterin onvergetelijke reis in mijn leven~

Great hotel with amazing onsen. Smack on the water. You can listen to the waves all day. Staff lovely. Ensure you pre-book dinner and breakfast if needed as we didn't get as didn't pre-book. One of our favourite places to stay. It's our third time

Amazing service and onsen facilities. There are both indoor and outdoor, private and public baths to choose from. There are unlimited drinks from the drinks machines and also other complementary food services. Both the meals, breakfast and dinner, were exquisite. It was great to experience traditional Japanese dining. The traditional Japanese building was like a labyrinth and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the many halls and gardens. The location is also great and there are many shops and temples around the area. All in all the perfect place to have a more traditional Japanese experience whilst receiving excellent service.

The public bath at the 14/ F is very nice with mount fuji view if you are lucky. The hotel room is clean and tidy but not a large one even though we booked a room with a large bed. But you know it is Japan. The best thing is the hotel is next to the station.
