Homestays in Jeju Province, South Korea

Room was clean, a nice apartment space (although quite cramped - i would not expect this feeling from a deluxe room). The washing machine worked well, as did all the appliances. I reccomened foreign visitors to use google translate images to understand the washing machine and air conditioning, If they had some English instructions it would be fabulous of course but its not something i expect. Location is pretty good, not too far from the citys main areas, with a short trip to the airport. If you're looking for an apartment-like space then its great. Do note that the two buildings (although directly next to each other) do not connect, so make sure you are in the right building. The name 'Hyde city' was not seen (?) only 'The Ocean City' - this also made navigation a little tricky. One surprising disadvantage was a lack of bedside table, i thought perhaps it was not visible in the photos but there is not one.

I had a comfortable stay at this hotel and found it to be a reliable choice overall. The front desk staff were polite and professional, making the check-in and check-out process quick and hassle-free. The room was spacious enough and kept tidy, with a comfortable bed and a nice view. Housekeeping did a good job maintaining cleanliness throughout my stay. I also appreciated the availability of basic amenities, which added to the convenience. The hotel’s location was a definite plus, with easy access to nearby shops and dining options. While the facilities were fairly standard, everything was functional and well-kept. There’s still a bit of room for improvement in certain areas, but nothing that significantly impacted my stay. All in all, it was a decent experience, and I would recommend this hotel to travelers looking for a simple and comfortable place to stay.

My stay at this hotel has been very unpleasant. First, I felt like I was being judged based on my race. In the U.S., we don’t usually take off our shoes indoors, so I honestly forgot. I apologized, but the owner was rude and asked me if I was Chinese—which made me very uncomfortable. Second, I’m sensitive to noise. I asked to switch rooms because the air conditioner in my first room was too loud. In the second room, I could hear noise from upstairs. When I asked again, the owner said there were no rooms left and that I’d have to wait until tomorrow. Out of curiosity, I went to check the third room myself, but the owner watched me through cameras and said I was ”weird.” I don’t understand why I can’t even look around without being watched, especially when I wasn’t doing anything wrong. Lastly, there is some exercise equipment near the front desk. There’s no sign saying guests can’t use it, so I was curious and started using it. But the owner’s wife asked me, ”Why don't you go to the park to work out?”—implying that the equipment isn’t for guests. That felt really dismissive. Also, there is a camera in my room. I understand it might be for fire safety, but it still makes me feel uncomfortable—like I'm being watched. Overall, I’m just really upset by their attitude. 이 호텔에 묵는 동안 정말 불쾌한 경험을 했습니다. 첫째, 인종적으로 차별당하는 느낌을 받았습니다. 미국에서는 실내에서 신을 벗는 게 일반적이지 않아서 제가 깜빡하고 신을 벗지 않았어요. 사과드렸지만, 사장님이 무례하게 제게 ”중국인이냐”고 물으셨고, 그 점이 매우 불편했습니다. 둘째, 저는 소음에 예민한 편입니다. 첫 번째 방의 에어컨 소음이 너무 커서 방을 바꿔달라고 요청했고, 두 번째 방에서는 위층에서 소음이 들렸습니다. 다시 요청드리니 사장님은 빈 방이 없다며 내일까지 기다리라고 하셨습니다. 궁금해서 제가 직접 세 번째 방을 확인하러 갔더니, 사장님이 카메라로 지켜보다가 제가 ”이상하다”고 말씀하셨어요. 아무 잘못도 하지 않았는데, 왜 그냥 둘러보는 것조차 감시당해야 하는지 이해가 되지 않습니다. 마지막으로, 프런트 데스크 근처에 운동 기구가 있었습니다. 손님이 사용하면 안 된다는 표시가 없어서 궁금해서 사용해봤는데, 사모님이 ”공원에 가서 운동하지 그러세요?”라고 물으셨습니다—그 말은 손님은 이 기구를 쓰면 안 된다는 뜻으로 들렸습니다. 정말 무시당하는 기분이었어요. 그리고 방 안에도 카메라가 있습니다. 화재 안전을 위한 것일 수도 있다고 이해는 하지만, 그래도 계속 지켜보는 것 같아 불편합니다. 전체적으로, 그들의 태도에 정말 화가 납니다.

We stayed here for 6 nights and had a very comfortable and pleasant experience—it truly felt like a home away from home. Housekeeping is done daily, which was a big plus. They replenished one 2-litre water bottles, provided four small towels, and emptied the trash every day, keeping the room consistently clean and tidy. The room comes with a small kitchenette that is well equipped with cutlery, drinking glasses, shot glasses, a kettle, microwave, and a full-size household refrigerator with both freezer and fridge compartments. There is also an electric stove, though the only downside is that no pots or pans are provided, so cooking is limited. One of the highlights is the large, human-sized window that can be opened to let in fresh air, along with an amazing scenic view outside. The bathroom is clean and modern, designed in soothing neutral tones. They provide good-quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and the high-pressure shower is excellent—perfect for a refreshing bath after a long day. The TV includes Netflix access without needing to log in to your own account, which is very convenient. The owner is extremely kind and friendly. Since we had a longer stay, she kindly allowed us to use the washing machine, provided clothes hangers, and arranged a place for us to air-dry our laundry, which was very thoughtful. The location is excellent—directly opposite the property is a 24-hour 7-Eleven. In the early morning, there’s also a café at the lobby selling coffee and baked goods, which is especially helpful as many eateries in Jeju only open around 10:30 am. One thing to note: check-in should be done early, as the staff do not work overnight. After 7:30 pm, there will be no one available to hand over keys. Overall, this is a very welcoming place, and we truly appreciated the comfort, convenience, and warm hospitality. We would definitely return and stay here again.

리뷰 보고 예약했는데, 말 그대로 사장님께서 참 친절하세요.. 구경 다니다 숙소 언제 갈지 몰라 도착해서 베이비 풀 사용 여부 여쭤 보려 했는데 오후 5시 좀 넘어서 도착했더니 반갑게 맞이해 주셨어요. 연락처가 이상하게 되어 있어 연락을 못하셨다고 하시면서 베이비 풀 사용 할 거냐고 먼저 물어 봐주시고, 겨울이라 늦은 시간인데도 사용 할 수 있냐고 여쭤보니 청소하고 해주시겠다고 하셨어요.(2시간 반정도 소요) 마침 사용할 방에 풀 타일이 훼손 되어 수리 해야 된다며, 옆 방으로 옮겨서 사용하게 해주셨어요. 우리가 간 날은 평일이고 비성수기라 마침 방이 비어있어서 가능했어요. (애들이 추운데도 물 속은 따뜻하니 엄청 좋아 했어요.. 한 시간 정도 놀았는데 재밌어 했어요.) 방 옮기느라 쌀쌀하다며 온풍기도 주시고, 모닝 커피도 주시고, 아침 제공 안되는 걸로 알고 있어서 나가서 먹으려는데, 마지막 날엔 신경 써서 챙겨주셔서 너~~무 감사했어요.. 남편 일 때문에 여행을 잘 못 가서 정말 오랜만에 갔다 왔는데, 정말 잘 쉬고 좋은 추억 쌓고 와서 좋으네요^^

The accommodation is clean and I love the refreshing ocean view! There's also a bar right downstairs, so it's great for a nice atmosphere at night. It was a shame that the weather was bad this time, but I want to visit again in the future!

Has parking space but the lots are stacked (in a square) and another car might block you from coming out if you are parked in the inner square. it is mandatory to leave all the car keys at lobby. I assume that this is so, others can shift ur car if they need to get out of the parking (if your car is blocking theirs) Check-in was abit confusing, there is no one manning the lobby desk and the instructions are to call a phone number (so if you book this accoms, make sure you have a korean phone number that can make calls). After calling, the person answering is not able to communicate in English, he used a digital translator (tagged to the call) to communicate. I was instructed to leave car keys on the lobby desk and take my check-in key from the desk. Although the desk is un-manned, there are plenty of CCTVs around the place. The room was spacious and nice and it was an urban room design. The toilet was also very spacious, however there is no door to separate the shower area, so the whole toilet might become wet during showers. When i first arrived, i found a roll of toilet paper on the floor, not too sure how that happened….. The fridge didnt have a light inside, but the inside was still cold but it was also winter season so we couldnt tell whether the fridge was working or not. The room has an aircon and heater that works well. check out was smooth, we just left the keys on the counter and left.

The room had a large and a small bed, which was plenty of space for one person. Though the facilities were a bit dated, it was spotlessly clean and very hygienic. Overall, I was very satisfied, especially considering the price point. At just over 100 RMB for a night, it offered excellent value.

Huge thanks to the owner and friends at Daol Guesthouse! This was truly the luckiest and most unforgettable experience of my solo trip to Korea. Daol Guesthouse boasts all sea-view rooms, spread across three independent buildings. You can open your curtains in the morning to a beautiful view of the beach, surrounded by lush greenery. The room was spotless, with amenities like a microwave and induction hob, making it very convenient for cooking. Udo Island has two ferry terminals, and the guesthouse is very close to one of them. You can arrange for a pick-up and drop-off with them in advance, which is super helpful. On the day I arrived, I mistakenly went to the other terminal. Since I didn't have a Korean phone number, I walked for a long time to reach the guesthouse (I later learned I could have contacted their online customer service for a pick-up). The scenery on Udo Island was breathtaking in the evening after the rain. I just followed the coastal path right to Daol Guesthouse. The owner and their friends were incredibly kind and looked after me when they saw me arrive alone in the evening rain. Because it was so late and there weren't many restaurants offering single-person meals, they invited me to have Korean BBQ with them at the guesthouse! The BBQ was delicious, and the guesthouse was so welcoming! The next day, the guesthouse drove me and my luggage to a place near the ferry terminal where I could rent an electric bike and even helped me get it sorted. On my second afternoon, I needed to leave the island and return to Jeju City. I had a lot of luggage, and taking the bus would have been inconvenient. The guesthouse owner's friend gave me a ride all the way back to Jeju City and dropped me off right in front of my hotel! I'm so grateful to Daol Guesthouse for this Udo Island trip. I feel so lucky I chose them, and I'll never forget it. I'll definitely come back to Udo Island again in the future, and I'll choose Daol Guesthouse once more. But next time, I'll stay for a few more days. Udo Island's beauty deserves to be savored and experienced deeply. The deserted country lanes on Udo Island in the evening after the rain are incredibly beautiful – if you get the chance, you must experience them. It's a completely different vibe from the daytime!
