Beach hotels in Sabah, Malaysia

"Ik kom voor werk naar KK, een eenvoudig hotel met een goed ontbijt, qua prijs zou ik zeggen. Gelegen vlakbij het stadscentrum, met restaurants in de buurt, maar voornamelijk westerse gerechten plus KFC en Bask Bear. Oud hotel, verwacht niet veel van het meubilair in de kamer, maar ik denk dat dat prima is zolang het goed onderhouden is. Alleen de douche heeft geen douchekop. Pardon my English, bedankt."

"Het is een hotel met een gevoel van leeftijd. Hoewel de faciliteiten de tand des tijds vertonen, zijn ze netjes en comfortabel. De obers in de lobby zijn allemaal beleefd en glimlachend. De kamers zijn zeer schoon en netjes, maar de douchekop is een beetje kapot en de huishouding heeft het niet opgemerkt. U kunt vanuit het hotel naar de zonsondergang kijken en bij het zwembad zitten. Kinderen houden van zwemmen en spelen. Het is slechts 10 minuten rijden naar bekende internetrestaurants of grote winkelcentra in de omgeving. De Durian-straat onder de brug ligt er pal naast.  Over het geheel genomen is de prijs-winverhouding hoog"

"It's a little out of town but I chose it for the close proximity to the beach and swimming ,which is about a 10min walk from the hotel. There are street food and drinks stalls available from about 3pm . Tanjung Aru beach is beautiful, uncrowded and the beach shelves away gently making it a safe swimming area. However, the beach had rubbish washed up and maintenance isn't a priority I guess. I swam everyday and didn't get sick ,that's a bonus. The room ( the whole place)was tired looking, it could do with a lick of paint and maintenance. Room was clean when I got there but I strongly doubt it was cleaned in the entire time I was there for five days. Often had to ask for toilet paper , shampoo and shower gel , and coffee sachets etc ,basics to be stocked whenever housekeeping does their cleaning. Air con worked for me although the settings couldn't be altered ! The bed springs creak and you feel the springs when you sit on the bed but I slept ok only because I was usually exhausted from the day's activities . The beds and mattresses definitely need renewing though. The fridge was mouldy and smelly , what a blooming shame : / The safe was broken - hallelujah! I kept my room door locked at all times only because Reception staff hardly looked up to see who comes and goes- they sit very low,almost out of view at their front desk. I wasn't convinced about their perception of safety especially as I'm a solo female traveller and I need to be alert and take great caution. Casuarina Hotel are you taking note? Reception is helpful but that depends who is present. Lifts work fine without too much of a wait. The cafe on ground level serves an American breakfast but I couldn't tell you whether that's worth your while. It looked like Mary Celeste everytime I peeped in there so wasn't convinced about getting fed or a service. Therefore, I had fruit and snacks as standby .. There's a lovely restaurant a few yards from the hotel called the Yolo Seafood Restaurant which tends to open from 11.30am- delicious and inexpensive with friendly staff. Grab taxi fare to city centre varies from MYR 7- 25 Ringgit ,the higher tariff if returning during commuter rush hours from city centre which is a 15- 25 min ride . Would I stay here again ? I would actually knowing all its idiosyncrasis compared to so many awful or simplly mediocre accommodation charging an arm and a leg , I think Casuarina is just ok . Value for money? I don't think so ."

"Mijn verblijf in Sutera Mantanani was absoluut onvergetelijk. De locatie van het hotel is werkelijk fantastisch: direct aan de oceaan, met een adembenemend uitzicht vanaf het moment dat je naar buiten stapt. Wakker worden met het geluid van de golven en het kristalheldere water was pure verwennerij. De kamers waren schoon, comfortabel en ontworpen om optimaal te genieten van de natuurlijke schoonheid rondom het hotel. Het personeel was vriendelijk en attent, wat zorgde voor een aangenaam en ontspannen verblijf. Of je nu wilt ontspannen op het strand of het eiland wilt verkennen, dit hotel is de perfecte uitvalsbasis voor je reis. Ik kan Sutera Mantanani van harte aanbevelen aan iedereen die op zoek is naar een rustig toevluchtsoord met adembenemende uitzichten. Ik kan niet wachten om terug te keren!"

"Ruime kamer met 3 ruime slaapkamers en 2 badkamers. De kamer is schoon en hygiënisch. Ondanks dat je dichtbij het vliegveld zit, heb je weinig last van geluidsoverlast. Vanaf het dakterras heb je uitzicht op één van de mooiste zonsondergangen ter wereld. De reisafstand van het hotel naar het vliegveld is nog steeds 10 minuten, omdat je helemaal om het vliegveld heen moet reizen. Dat viel een beetje tegen."

"Dit was mijn eerste verblijf hier en ik was tevreden. Maar de schoonmaakdienst zou de volgende keer alles goed moeten controleren voor vertrek. Vooral de koelkast, want de vorige gast had een open plastic beker avocadosap in de vriezer laten staan ​​en ik weet niet hoe lang dat daar al stond. Het rook vies en er zaten waarschijnlijk bacteriën in de vriezer. De volgende gast die de vriezer gebruikt, zal zich daar zorgen over maken."

"This place is truly amazing! All my fellow Chinese travelers, come stay here! The owner is Chinese, so communication was a breeze. Our flight landed late at night, and it wasn't safe to take a taxi outside, so the owner even arranged a pick-up from the airport for us. The hotel just opened recently, and the overall decor is incredibly cozy and beautiful. The rooms are spotless, with no dust in the corners or bathrooms – it was a very comfortable stay. Most importantly, the owner is incredibly, incredibly, incredibly kind and generous; they even gave us fruit to eat. When we wanted to buy food at night, the owner helped us out, not wanting my friend and I to encounter any trouble, and they didn't mind the hassle at all. Every day, they'd proactively ask us where we were going and how our day was, patiently recommending and helping us find tours when we wanted to book an island day trip."

"Ik was zeer tevreden. Ik bleef op het eiland en bleef 2 dagen ontspannen. Het landschap was erg goed en ik kon direct aan het strand van het eiland snorkelen. Er zijn veel muggen. Het wordt aanbevolen dat het hotel muggenwerende middelen in de kamer heeft. Het restaurant is in de open lucht. Als er veel muggen zijn, kunt u het hotel vragen de maaltijd in te pakken en op de kamer te bezorgen."

"I expected a great hotel stay and they delivered. All the staff were lovely. Thank you for that. My only issue is the lack of room information regarding what is available in the hotel. Normally I would expect marketing information and menus for restarunt and bar in the room. The TV does give room service menu but was not required. Fortunately we found Ben, the Concierge in the lobby who very kindly explained what we asked, and provided a map for the area. Very welcome. Thank you very much."
